Calling TEPCO to get your electricity hooked up
Before you move into a new place, you need to contact TEPCO via telephone or fill in their online form so that your electricity will be hooked up and set to go from the day you move in.
With smart meters now nearly universal across Japan, you may not be able to use electricity in your new home right away unless you sign up for electricity prior to moving in. To avoid delays, make sure to contact TEPCO or an alternative electricity provider well in advance.

- Your address (current and new)

TEPCO procedures that can be handled on the telephone vs. completed online

The TEPCO website contains many forms that can be submitted online to fulfill their necessary procedures. You can check which forms are available online in the table below.
If you need to stop your electricity at your current address and start it up at your new address, you can complete all necessary procedures online by continuing your current TEPCO contract.
However, please be aware that if you do not know your TEPCO customer number (NOTE: it is printed on your meter reading slip), your only choice will be to contact TEPCO by telephone. Obviously your new address (i.e. where you will be moving to) will be required, so be sure to have this ready. If you are moving out of Japan, however, you will not be able to proceed online and will need to phone TEPCO directly.
Changing your name or your amperage cannot be done online. Both require a call to the TEPCO Customer Center.
