Earning points
With CD Energy Direct's electricity plans you will earn 1 point for every ¥100 you pay. If a family member has a contract with Chubu Electricity Company or Osaka Gas, you can earn and extra 100 points per month as well.
These points compiled can be used to pay for electricity bills. In effect, it's equivalent to a 1% discount. You can also exchange your cumulated points for other companies' points (T points, nanaco, WAON points, d points, etc.) and gift cards.
In order to collect and use points, you must first register for CD Energy Direct's WEB membership service "Cateene".

Discount electricity and gas if you purchase them as a pack
You can get a discount on Electricity and Gas if you purchase them as a bundle from CD Energy Direct.

Basic Denki B・C Plan

Smart Denki Plan

Entertainment Denki Plan
It is a plan that comes bundled with a free annual membership of Amazon Prime (¥4900). If you already own an Amazon Prime membership, your membership will be extended for another year.

KODOMO Shinbun Denki Plan
It is a plan that is bundled with a free annual subscription to Yomiuri KODOMO newspaper (subscription fee ¥6,600 per year). You can subscribe to this plan even if you are already subscribed to CD Energy Direct.

CD Energy Direct's Game Denki is an electricity plan for gamers that comes with a one-year free subscription for PlayStation Now or PlayStation Plus.
PlayStation Now is a cloud-based game service that allows you to play games with a game library that is updated every month, from new games to classic retro games. More than 400 game titles are available on the platform.
This plan is meant to appeal to gamers that want to play new or retro Playstation games.

Points Denki Plan
CD Energy Direct's Points Denki is an electricity plan that offers you D points and Rakuten Super Points according to the monthly electricity fees. The electricity rate is exactly the same as TEPCO's metered rate B plan.
Depending on the monthly power bill, 1% to 6% of the electricity bill will be returned as D points or Rakuten Super Points.

CD Energy Direct: Smart Denki B：tariff table
If your home is equipped with all electricity appliances, CD Energy Direct's Smart Denki B is the perfect plan for you. It has the same price as TEPCO's Smart Life S plan, but you can get more points with CD Energy Direct's plan than with TEPCO's.
In the case of TEPCO, 5 points for every ¥1,000 of electricity fees, which makes the points return rate 0.5%. In the case of CD Energy Direct, 1 point is given for every ¥100 , so the return rate is 1%. In other words, CD Energy Direct has twice the points redemption rate than TEPCO.

CD Energy Direct：Game Denki：tariff table
CD Energy Direct's Game Denki is an electricity plan (P) that comes with the 12-month membership for PlayStation Plus or PlayStation(N) that comes with a 12-month membership for PlayStation Now (N). There are two plans (P ・ N). In addition, each membership will be extended according to the renewal of the electricity contract (automatic renewal for 1 year).
The base fees for this plan is a bit more expensive than TEPCO's metered rate B plan. However, if you factor in PlayStation Now or PlayStation Plus's annual membership fees, it becomes cheaper than TEPCO's metered rate B plan if you plan on having a PlayStation membership individually.

If you compare CD Energy Direct's basic gas plan fees and Tokyo Gas's basic plan, both the base fees and the gas fees are cheaper.
Furthermore, if you make a contract with electricity and gas as a bundle, the "electricity set discount" will be applied, and 0.5% of the gas charge (excluding the fuel cost adjustment amount) will be discounted, which is even more advantageous.

Switching to CD Energy Direct when moving
To stop electricity and gas at your address before moving, you need to contact the electric power company and gas company you currently using. Apply for and contact CD Energy Direct to provide electricity and gas at your new address to start using their service. Please apply at least one week before the scheduled start date.
